The Joint Taskforce Operation, Delta Safe has discovered an underground illegal oil well in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
The illegally refined diesel which is housed in a three storey building in Tamara Street, Biogbolo area of the State had about 35,000 litre of Automated Gas Oil (diesel) and 30 jerrycans filled with illegally-refined products loaded in a vehicle.
According to the OPDS Commander, Rear Adm. Olusegun Ferreira, while disclosing the incident, the owner of the building, Israel Oke is reportedly on the run after the JTF acting on credible information arrived in the area.
“The products here apart from constituting health hazard to people that are living there, it is also a safety hazard for other people living within the community in case of fire or any other hazard”. He said
Three suspects alongside wife of the owner of the facility have been arrested.
