Veteran Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw has addressed the matter of the senate getting enormous tokens to enjoy their holidays while, stating that the only ‘prayers’ going into the ‘mailboxes’ of poor Nigerians are more taxes and burdens from the government.
The actress made this known via her social media handle following the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio’s assurance to colleagues during Wednesday’s plenary session that a huge token had been sent into their accounts as they embark on a recess.
“In order to enable all of us to enjoy our holidays, a token has been sent to our various accounts by the Clerk of the National Assembly,” Akpabio told colleagues.
Although, The Senate President withdrew the statement rephrasing the supposed disbursement as “prayers” sent to their “mailboxes”, many expressed displeasure over the remark, especially on social media, claiming the lawmakers were insensitive to poor Nigerians.
According to Kate Henshaw who lamented that the lawmakers don’t care about poor Nigerians, “The only “prayers” going into the “mail” of Nigerians is more taxes, more burdens, more “grin & bear it”, more “we don’t give a f@#k”.
“Happy holidays to the ones meant to serve & bring succour to their constituents. Nothing do una jare.”
