Former Kaduna Central Senator and Human Rights Activist, Shehu Sani, has stated that Nigerians need not rely on promises made by the government.

Expressing his view concerning poverty alleviation, Shehu on his X handle, noted that all government come with promises of poverty alleviation but end up not fulfilling the promises.

According to him, Nigerians will reach a point where they will beg the government to leave them in poverty.

“The Past Government promised to lift the people out of poverty. The Present Government is promising to lift the people out of poverty.

“We are reaching a point where the people will beg the Government to please leave them in Poverty.

“The poverty you know is better than the one you don’t know.” he tweeted.
