Army Command Secondary School has kicked off in Ekiti State, admitting its first intake of 185 students into Junior Secondary School (JSS 1) class.
This was revealed by the former Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi in his official Facebook page.
While expressing excitement, Fayemi stated that it marks the culmination of a four-year journey to join the ranks of states with Army Command Secondary Schools.
According to him, “I extend my gratitude to the successive Chiefs of Army Staff, from Lt. General Buratai to Attahiru and Yahaya, as well as the two CDSs – Generals Yomi Olonisakin and LEO Irabor, and their officers who collaborated with me and the Ekiti team to achieve this goal.
“I must also express my thanks to my successor, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, and his team for continuing the work we started to make the school a reality. To the dedicated team on the ground, led by the Commandant Major Anifowoshe, I commend you for a job well done.
“The Isan Ekiti community, under the leadership of Kabiyesi Oba Gabriel Adejuwon, has been a warm and welcoming host, and I appreciate the community for their hospitality and generosity of spirit.
“The school has quickly gained popularity and is already oversubscribed. We hope that the military authorities will soon consider establishing additional schools in the state to meet the enthusiastic demand from Ekiti and the surrounding states”.
