Nigerian actor and TV personality, Tobi Bakre, has emerged winner of the acting award at The Future Awards Africa.

NEWSTODAYNG gathered that the event took place at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos, on Sunday, with 25 nominees emerging as winners in various categories.

The actor celebrated his win on his social media handle expressing his gratitude to his elder brother, @femibakre, who previously won a TFAA award and served as an inspiration for him to persevere. He reminisced about hosting the Future Awards years ago and expressed his desire to follow in his brother’s footsteps.

In his words, “Big shout out to my brother @femibakreYou inspired this particular award. I hosted the Future Award years ago and you won that particular year. Didn’t know when or how. But I sure wanted to touch the hem of your garment.”

After his stint on the Big Brother Naija reality TV show in 2018, Bakre’s acting career skyrocketed. He has recently won the Best Actor category at the AMVCA ceremony in May for his outstanding performance in Brotherhood. Additionally, he has been recognized on the AFRIFF 2023 honours list for his captivating role in Gangs of Lagos.

Bakre’s repertoire includes thrilling performances in Gangs of Lagos, Brotherhood, The Blood Covenant, and his latest film, Slum King.
