The Minister for Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy, has been putting all mechanisms in place to get justice for Miss Greatness Olorunfemi who was a victim of the one chance robbery incident in Abuja.

In a recent and deeply disturbing incident, Miss Greatness Olorunfemi, a victim of a violent attack by a “one chance” criminal syndicate in Abuja, was allegedly denied medical attention upon her arrival at Maitama General Hospital.

NEWSTODAYNG gathered that the Minister, who made a post on her social media platform, revealed that the matron of Maitama General Hospital had claimed that Greatness was brought in dead, and this was the reason for the hospital’s refusal to provide her with medical care.

In reaction to the video, the Minister said “The life of every woman and child must be protected at all costs. The deceased wasn’t just a daughter; she was also a citizen of our dear country, Nigeria, entitled to the protection of her fundamental human rights.”

Following her surprise visit to the Accident and Emergency Unit of the hospital, the Minister emphasized the need for a thorough investigation.

She expressed concerns about similar incidents where individuals in critical condition were allegedly denied medical attention and subsequently lost their lives and addressed the issue of emergency cases being denied medical attention.

The Matron in charge of the Accident and Emergency Unit, Habiba Musa, explained that Greatness was brought in dead on Thursday, September 26, and her pulse was thready with a stopped heart.

However, the Minister remained unconvinced by this explanation and insisted on speaking with the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Igbinovia Imuentien, who was unavailable at the time.

In response to the Minister’s demands, the FCT Mandate Secretary for Health Services and Environment, Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe, informed her that an Independent Investigative Panel had been established.

This panel, consisting of non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, the Council of Nurses, and other relevant bodies, was tasked with uncovering the true circumstances that led to the tragic death of Greatness Olorunfemi.

Minister Ohanenye also urged the initiative to include the Youth Council of Nigeria in the Panel of Investigation and announced her intention to preside over another internally constituted panel focusing on the deceased’s death.

During her address to the panel members, she commended the Mandate Secretary for the initiative and stressed the need for Nigeria to prioritize the value of human life, while also calling for improved responsiveness from paramedics whose primary duty is to save lives.
