The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has expressed his delight at the recent judgment of the Supreme Court, which upheld the election of Bola Tinubu as the duly elected President of Nigeria.
NEWSTODAYNG gathered that the Supreme Court’s ruling has put to rest any lingering doubts about the legitimacy of Bola Tinubu’s presidency, offering a sense of stability and continuity in Nigeria’s political landscape.
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogu in Abuja on Thursday, Kalu lauded the verdict as a significant win for democracy.
The statement reads, “I congratulate the President and the Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu, on his resounding victory in the Supreme Court. I commend the judiciary for their steadfastness in upholding the integrity of our judicial system. Today’s verdict is a testament to the power of democracy and the rule of law.”
The Deputy Speaker stated that the Supreme Court’s decision confirmed the choice of Nigerians who voted for President Tinubu and the APC on February 25, 2023, while also extending his congratulations to the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as he noted that the victory reaffirmed the party’s mandate from the people.
“With this final decision by the Supreme Court, I urge all those who may have been opposed to come together in support of the current administration and focus on governance and nation-building. This shared responsibility can only be achieved through unity, leaving behind strife and political acrimony. Ultimately, this victory signifies the triumph of democracy in Nigeria,” Kalu concluded.
