A tragic accident occurred on Sunday along the Kaduna-Abuja expressway, resulting in the death of 16 people and leaving 27 others injured.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kabir Nadabo, reported that the accident took place around 5:20 am at Audu Jhangon village along the expressway.

The incident involved a trailer with registration number KUJ 430XC, which was transporting overloaded goods. The driver lost control, causing the trailer to fall into a ditch.

Preliminary reports suggest that high speed, possibly due to driver fatigue, contributed to the accident.

Combined rescue teams from RS1.114 Zhipe Unit Command and RS1.16B Dutse Outpost conducted operations at the scene. The injured individuals were transported to the nearest hospital for treatment.

Kabir Nadabo, the FRSC Sector Commander, visited the crash site to gather first-hand information and oversee the ongoing rescue operations. He mentioned that the tow truck was deployed to remove parts of the accident trailer obstructing the road, allowing for the restoration of traffic movement.
