In a heartfelt revelation, a Nigerian man shared the intricate details of his turbulent life journey, filled with betrayal, forgiveness, success, and profound loss as his wife, who cheated on him, served him divorce papers while he was outside the country.

Speaking with marriage counselor and human rights consultant, Dr Shola Adeoye, the man, whose identity remains undisclosed, poured out his emotions, recounting a series of life-altering events.

The saga began when his daughter caught his wife cheating with another man.

Regardless of not being directly involved in the marital transgressions, he returned home from a four-month stint in Canada only to be served with divorce papers.

Despite his inclination to forgive and take responsibility, his daughter and grandmother insisted on the separation.

Following the divorce, he faced job loss and sought refuge with his mother-in-law.

After that, a turnaround came in 2005 when he secured a new job. Displaying resilience, he moved his mother-in-law and daughter into a substantial $1.7 million house, demonstrating his commitment to family support.

In 2010, when his mother-in-law suggested leaving, he resisted, providing her with a life of comfort. Despite her urge for him to remarry, he remained uninterested.

Tragedy struck in 2022 when the mother-in-law succumbed to cancer, leaving a void in his life.

The man reflected on the unique bond he shared with his mother-in-law, considering her the mother he never had.

He disclosed that his own mother had passed away after giving birth to him, and he never knew his father.

The mother-in-law, Mopelola, stood by him even after his daughter moved on and got married.

In a poignant turn of events, the man’s ex-wife failed to attend Mopelola’s funeral in 2022 as she was incarcerated for fraud.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to vent, he added that scars from his previous relationships still overwhelms him even as he has found love again in another relationship, he’s still apprehensive.
