Religious leaders in Ekiti State, under the aegis of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), have initiated the new year with an interfaith prayer session at the Labour House in the Egbewa Area of Ado Ekiti.
The event, led by Chief Imam Alhaji Abdulfatai Olohunkemi and Pastor Abioye Bamidele, aimed to seek divine blessings, harmony, and cooperation among the labour force.
Comrade Kolapo Olatunde, Chairman of NLC in Ekiti State, expressed gratitude to members for their support in the previous year and pledged to foster a positive working relationship with the government. His commitment focused on securing rightful benefits for workers and pensioners without resorting to confrontation or violence, emphasizing the importance of peaceful negotiations.
During the prayer session, the Chief Imam and the Pastor delivered sermons underscoring the significance of workers strengthening their faith in God and fostering unity. The spiritual leaders emphasized the need for harmony and cooperation within the labour force, highlighting these as essential elements for progress.
Olatunde encouraged workers to maintain hope and emphasized the role of prayer in seeking divine blessings. The collaborative spirit among Ekiti State labour leaders was evident as they embarked on the new year, focusing on unity, improved welfare, and peaceful negotiations for the benefit of the workers.
Senior Special Assistant to the Ekiti State Governor on Labour Matter, Kayode Fatomiluyi, reassured the labour leaders of the government’s commitment to enhancing workers’ welfare in the new year. Permanent Secretary of Establishment and Training, Mr. Aremu Shittu, urged workers to exhibit diligence and collaboration, emphasizing the mutual success that comes from working closely with the government.
