In a resolute state broadcast, Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, declared an unwavering commitment to rid the state of criminal syndicates, following the spate of violent crimes, which include the brutal murder of two monarchs and the kidnapping of school children.

The Governor’s address come in the wake of a horrific incident where armed assailants killed the Elesun of Esun Ekiti, Oba David Babatunde Ogunsakin, and the Olumojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Oba Samuel Olatunde Olusola, with Oba Sunday Fatoba, the Alara of Ara (Ikole), narrowly escaping.

This surge in violence, including the abduction of pupils and teachers from the Apostolic Faith Nursery and Primary School in Emure-Ekiti, has cast a shadow over the state’s reputation as a peaceful and investment-friendly region.

Governor Oyebanji, deeply affected by these events, especially given his close relationships with the deceased monarchs, emphasized their contributions to the community’s development and expressed his condolences.

In response to these tragedies, the Governor has directed security agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend those responsible.

He highlighted the state’s immediate actions to bolster security measures, including equipping local and conventional security forces with advanced technology and intelligence capabilities.

The Governor’s broadcast also revealed a supportive conversation with President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who assured national assistance in addressing these security challenges and preventing future occurrences.

Oyebanji’s visit to the affected communities and his meetings with local leaders underline the state’s solidarity and commitment to confronting this menace.

Governor Oyebanji’s call to action extends to all residents of Ekiti, urging community collaboration in intelligence sharing and reinforcing community-based security initiatives.
