Barely 3 weeks after the Emure-Ekiti pupils kidnap and their release a week ago, another one occurred at Iye-Ekiti in Ilejemeje Local Government Area, last week, where a 16-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped by one Amaechi Bernard.


Bernard, a mechanic by profession, was said to have committed the heinous act on Thursday around 8pm.

NEWSTODAYNG gathered that Bernard rented a piece of land in Oke-Iye along Obada/Iludun Road in Iye Ekiti and kept the victim in the house of his landlady who was said to have travelled about a month ago.

Before the ugly event, the girl was playing with her younger sister in front of their house and when contacted, the father of the victim, Segun Adeyeye who confirmed the incident, said that the suspected kidnapper who happened to be a neighbour, used the phone of the victim to call him around twelve in the midnight and demanded a ransom of thirty million naira.

He explained that immediately the incident filtered into the air, both residents and police swung into action, but the suspect escaped, while his clothes were discovered on the ground.

The victim (name withheld), is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Iye Ekiti, as it was gathered that the she was beaten by the abductor while shouting for help.
