The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Akinwale Adeniran on Monday engaged the leadership of Organised Labour in the state over their planned industrial action.
The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Ekiti State Chapter, Com. Kolapo Olatunde, in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sunday Abutu, stated that “it was an honour for the State Chapter of the Labour Union to be invited for such an important engagement, while promising that the protest will be done peacefully and lawfully.”
The statement continued,”He further appealed to the Command to provide adequate security for them throughout the period of the exercise to guarantee the peaceful protest as planned.
“In his response, the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police promised that adequate security will be provided as he has already directed the Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, Intelligence Units and DPOs within the State to deploy enough personnel for the exercise and ensure there is no breakdown of law and order across the State.”
