Venita Akpofure, former Big Brother Naija reality star and actress-turned-rapper, has fired back at a social media user who criticized her for her attire in her latest rap video, ‘Gen Z Cypher,’ featuring Magnito.
The controversy arose when Venita shared a snippet of the video on her social media handle, revealing her scantily-clad appearance.
A user took to the comment section to express disapproval, citing Venita’s status as a mother of three and deeming her display of nudity as shameful.
The commenter wrote, “Person wey get three pikin for house see wetin she wear her shame dey shame me.”
In a swift response, Venita defended her choice, drawing parallels with her idol, Beyoncé, who also has three children yet confidently wears bodysuits during performances and has achieved immense success.
She retorted, “My dear I no Dey shame, keep your shame for yourself, I go Dey follow my Beyoncé jejely de go. Who also has 3 kids, wears bodysuits to perform and is billionaire household name. Go hard = Venita. Go home = you.”
Venita’s response reflects her determination to assert her individuality and pursue her artistic endeavours without being constrained by societal expectations or judgments.
By invoking Beyoncé as a role model, she emphasizes her right to express herself authentically and confidently, regardless of her maternal status.
