Justice J.O Adeyeye of a High Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State has sentenced one Ayegbusi Ojo to life imprisonment for raping a 15-yr-old girl in the State.
Justice Adeyeye, on Wednesday convicted and sentenced Ojo on one-count offence.
According to Director of Public Prosecutions, Julius Ajibare said the victim was coming from school when she was accosted by the convict, who lured her into his room and forced himself into her.
After calling 5 witnesses and tendered 3 exhibits, he said girl could not disclose the horrible experience to anyone but her father found out when the girl collapsed at home and blood was gushing out of her private part and she was rushed to the hospital.
The convict, who spoke through his counsel, E O. Sunmonu gave evidence in his defence and called one additional witness.
He was charged with the offence of rape contrary to section 31 (2) of the Child’s Rights Law, Cap.C7, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The Court delivered his judgement and held that the Prosecution proved the offence of rape against the defendant beyond reasonable doubt.
The Court consequently convicted the defendant and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
