Sani Shinkafi, the special adviser on inter-governmental affairs to the governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle, has alleged Northern Governors of being responsible for economy downturn, chronic insecurity, unemployment, poverty, and educational backwardness in the region.

Speaking on tax reform bills on Arise News Morning Show, Shinkafi accused the governors of being power-drunk and intoxicated by politics, and only seek personal enrichment.

His words, “These governors who are saying it(Tax bills) will increase hardship are responsible for the failure of the economy, chronic insecurity, unemployment, poverty, and educational backwardness in the northern region.

“When the President also withdrew the fuel subsidy, which of the governors in the northern region has complained loudly or cried foul? When the electricity tariff has been increased, which of the governors have cried loudly or complained that other segments of the country are shortchanging the northern region?

“These leaders of today are power-drunk and intoxicated by politics, and they only want this money allocated to them from the federation account for personal enrichment, not for the development of the northern region.”
