The Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has enjoined Corps Members to present themselves as worthy ambassadors of their various families and NYSC Scheme in exhibiting the sterling qualities of NYSC Motto, ‘Service and Humility’.
He made this known on Friday at the swearing-in ceremony of the 2023 Batch B, Stream 1 orientation camp at Yikpata.
In his statement, “I enjoin you to always prefer yourselves aa worthy ambassadors of your various families and indeed the NYSC scheme, by exhibiting the sterling qualities of Service and Humility as enshrined as the motto of the NYSC.
“Adopt a serious and conscientious approach to the various activities of the orientation course in order to be able to face the numerous challenges of the assignment that lie ahead. You must not allow frivolities to affect the needed commitment in achieving the expected qualities of the future leaders, which the NYSC scheme is designed to prepare you for.”
AbdulRahman also charged Corps Members to be purposefully involved on a camp activity as it help to adapt quickly to their new environment while at the places of primary assignment, as well as make experience of service year exciting and highly rewarding.
While acknowledging the 50th years of the Scheme, he appreciated the Federal Government of Nigeria and the NYSC management for their continued efforts in sustaining the Scheme for fifty years.
“It is not an uncommon fact that National Youth Service Corp, NYSC was established to play a key role in the drive towards the achievement of the national integration and building of a strong and egalitarian Nigeria, which we can all be proud of,” he said.
However, he promised that Kwara State Government will continue to support the welfare and security of Corps Members currently serving and newly deployed to Kwara State for their national service.
He also added that his administration recently approved and commenced the perimeter fencing of the orientation camp as they look forward to making life conducive and ensure adequate security on camp.
