The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has strongly denounced the recent spate of assassinations targeting Nigeria’s traditional rulers.
Speaking during the church’s monthly Holy Ghost Service program titled ‘From The Mountain Top 2,’ the octogenarian preacher issued a stern warning, declaring that those attempting to interfere with the country’s monarchy would face divine consequences.
Adeboye, known for his influence in both religious and social circles, emphasized the sanctity of traditional rulers, stating, “The fire of God will consume all those trying to mess around with our traditional rulers because, as far as God is concerned, traditional rulers are anointed.”
This condemnation comes in response to a disturbing escalation of violence, where three traditional rulers were brutally murdered within a span of four days. The victims included the Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Olusola, and the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, Oba David Ogunsola. The assailants struck again on Thursday, claiming the life of Koro’s Olukoro, General Segun Aremu (retd).
The unsettling wave of attacks also involved the kidnapping of students and instructors, prompting heightened concerns about the security situation. In response, security services, including the police, have deployed resources such as helicopters and armored carriers to Ekiti.
Authorities are committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice, as Nigerians demand swift action to curb the rising incidents of kidnapping and murder plaguing the nation.
