The Confederation of African Football, CAF has approved that Morocco should host 2025 African Cup of Nation tournament, AFCON after Tuesday’s meeting in Cairo, Egypt.
The coast started becoming clearer for the North African country on Tuesday when their closest challenger Algeria withdrew from the bidding process.
Nigeria and Benin also tendered their withdrawal letter in the early hours of Wednesday as the Executive Committee meeting of the football was about to start.
The late withdrawal of Zambia from the 2025 edition left Morocco as the only candidate bidding to host the competition and they were unanimously awarded the hosting right.
Morocco last hosted the biennial competition in 1988.
