The Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Chief Monisade Afuye, has felicitated the First Lady, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji over her recent elevation to the position of Associate Professor by the University of Ibadan.

Afuye described the elevation as acknowledgement of Dr. Olayemi’s surfeit of contributions to scholarship in the nation’s Ivory tower, saying her current academic status was well deserved and aptly rewarding.

The authorities of Nigeria’s premier university, the University of Ibadan, on Thursday, officially pronounced Dr. Oyebanji, an Associate Professor in the Department of Education Management.

Congratulating the First Lady on her profound academic status, Afuye, in a statement by her Special Assistant on Media, Victor Ogunje, applauded the university for recognising Dr. Olayemi’s boundless scholastic prowess, sacrifices, industry and intellectual contributions to the institution.

The deputy governor added that the elevation accentuated the fact that the First Lady is a thorough-bred academic and intellectually savvy individual, whose efforts were recognised in a sophisticated academic environment, like UI.

She applauded the First Lady for adding more colourful feathers to her numerous acacdemic laurels, praying God to grant her good health and sound mental state to be able to contribute more to scholarship and nation building.

“Let me on behalf of myself and family congratulate her Excellency, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji on her elevation to this lofty and prestigious academic status. In fact, this was a great honour to Ekiti citizens.

“We all know that it was a well deserved promotion, considering the First Lady’s solid background as an academic prodigy. We are indeed proud of her academic exploits in one of the most venerated nation’s academic hub, The University of Ibadan.

“This coming at a time she is serving the State was a well amplified testimony to her unflagging commitment to coalesce actions, efforts and her mental prowess with our Governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to serve humanity and radicalise the face of governance in our dear state.

“Besides her highly exhilarating and positively impactful academic exploits, the First Lady has brought her robust academic background to upscale educational standards of Ekiti children by her zealous and focused actions in prosecution of Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) and Widows and Orphans Hope Project (WAOH).

“I congratulate our superfluously brilliant First Lady on this remarkable feat and wish her well in her current and future endeavours as we look forward to having her being garlanded with full fledged Professorial title in no distant time”, Afuye stated.
