A new Rector has been appointed for the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
The appointment of Dr. Temitope John Alake as the seventh substantive Rector of the institution was approved by President Muhammadu Buhari.
This was contained in a letter signed by the Minister of Education Mallam Adamu Adamu and made available to newsmen by the institution’s Director, Protocol, Information and Public Relations, Ade Adeyemi-Adejolu, in Ado-Ekiti, on Tuesday.
According to the letter, the appointment is for a single tenure of five years with effect from 23rd February, 2023 and in line with Federal Polytechnic Act as amended (2019).
“By his appointment as the seventh substantive and second Alumnus Rector of the Institution, Dr. T.J Alake will succeed and take over office from the incumbent sixth substantive and first Alumnus Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti, Dr. Dayo Hephzibah Oladebeye, whose five years tenure will expire at midnight of 22nd February, 2023.
“Born on 23rd February, 1965, Dr. T.J Alake bagged his Higher National Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti in 1986.
“The new Rector is a widely published Academic, with over 56 scholarly publications, including five Thesis/Dissertation/Projects, three monographs and 48 other onshore and offshore journal articles and academic publications to date.
“A full member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, MNSE and a COREN Registered Engineer in the field of Electronic Engineering, Dr. T.J Alake is also a member of the Nigerian Institution of Electrical/Electronic Engineering, MNIEE and National Association of Teachers, MNATT.
“He has held several positions of responsibilities in the Institution including as an Head of Department, Sub-Dean and Chairman of several Committees as well as being a former Chairman of the local chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP.”
