…demands removal of Ayu, PDP National Chairman

Barely 24 hours after the former Governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose declared support for PDP’s Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has officially announced his withdrawal from participating in Atiku’s campaign for the 2023 general election.

Governor Wike together with everyone in his camp disclosed their stand through a PDP Chieftan, Olabode George after a long meeting which started at about 7pm on Tuesday and ended in the early hours of Wednesday.


According to the group, none of them will participate in the PDP campaign for Atiku unless the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu, resigns for a southern candidate.

Present at the meeting which held at Wike’s private residence in Port Harcourt are; Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State; former Governors Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo, Ayo Fayose of Ekiti, Donald Duke of Cross River, Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe and Jonah Jang of Plateau, former Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Adoke.

Elder statesmen, Olabode George, Jerry Gana; South-South Chairman of the PDP, Dan Orbih; former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chibudom Nwuche; Senator Suleiman Nazif, Nnenna Ukeje, among several others were also present at the meeting.

Recall that some members of the group were recently appointed as leaders and members of the campaign council for the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
