A Judge of the Borno State High Court, Haruna Mshelia has regained freedom after spending 60 days in the den of Boko Haram.
NEWSTODAYNG recalled that Haruna was kidnapped by terrorists on June 24, while going from Biu to Maiduguri with his wife, driver, and a police officer.
Speaking with journalists, the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Maiduguri branch, Hamza Zannah, verified that the Judge was freed in excellent health.
“He is now resting in a secluded location after reuniting with his family, but his wife and driver are still in captivity.
“We pray for their unconditional release,” he added.
Mshelia, a former private lawyer, was appointed to the Borno State Judiciary in May of 2012.
He was one of two High Court judges appointed among the state’s private practitioners.
His colleague, Mohammed Fadawu, was appointed to the Court of Appeal in July.
