Imam Abdufatai Oluwakemi and Pastor Oluwadamilare have charged Journalists in Ekiti state to carryout their assignments as journalists with the fear of God.
The clergymen who charged members of the fourth estate of the realm to be unbiased in their reportage said this at the beginning of the year prayer held by the union at it’s press centre in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday.
According to them, Journalists are the voice of the voiceless, and people rely on the media, therefore, they should ensure they do not publish anything that will create chaos and anarchy but publish something genuine.
“It says in the qur’aan, that a video is placed in the neck of everyone to record our deeds which will be rewarded on the day of judgement.
“Be careful of what you don’t have a very solid knowledge. What you hear and see will be questioned on the judgement day.” Imam Abdufatai said.
“There is someone to be accountable to, whether we are paid for information or not. Let us remember that as we are witnessing here, the greater witness is watching us above.
“There is no where to run to under the sun, everything is open before God. God is the only witness to fear while still doing our journalistic works, have the fear of God as you write your stories and carryout your journalistic assignment.” Pastor Oluwadamilare said.
