Chris Isiguzo, the National President, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, has been elected as the new President of Congress of African Journalists, CAJ.

In an unanimous decision held online on Wednesday, at the Congress of the Governing Council of the union, Isiguzo was voted to replace Alexandre Niyungeko of Burundi.

According to a statement by the National Secretary, NUJ, Shuaibu Usman Leman, CAJ was established in 2020 to address the issues affecting journalists on the continent, promoting shared values and upholding the Declaration of Principles on Freedom of Speech.

Isiguzo expressed appreciation to his colleagues for the confidence reposed in him while pledging to work assiduously for the success of CAJ.
