The Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC) has urged Nigerians to be safety conscious while driving during the Easter celebration.

This was revealed by the Corps Marshal, Dauda Biu in a statement signed by the Corps Public Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem, in Abuja.

Biu, who congratulated all Christians on the Easter celebration, called for deep reflection on the need to show love to others especially while using the road.

According to him, “I wish to seize the opportunity of the Easter celebration to call for deep reflection by people on the need for attitudinal change towards road safety and collective campaign against the menace of road traffic crashes in the country,” he said.

The FRSC Boss also urged road users to observe traffic rules and regulations to ensure crash and obstruction-free festivities.

According to him, the call was necessary due to the high rate of speed-related crashes in the country, adding that motorists should drive defensively by observing traffic rules and regulations to achieve the goal of zero fatality during the festivities.

Biu said that the increase in human and vehicular movements across the country during Easter usually placed enormous pressure on the FRSC to effectively contain the traffic upsurge.

” I want to seriously appeal to motorists to always obey traffic rules and regulations.

“Appropriate measures have been put in place through massive deployments of personnel and logistics across the nation to give succour to road travellers.

“The objectives of the 2023 Easter special operations are to ensure zero fatality through enforcement.

“Adequate deployments of our personnel and logistics to effectively cover all the road networks in the country as well as the identified black spots have been put in place.

“It is our hope that our goal of zero fatality during the Easter celebration will be achieved,” he added.
