The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Minister of Power and Steel, Olu Agunloye, wanted over an alleged $6 billion fraud.
Agunloye, who served under President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration from 1999 to 2003, was previously invited and questioned by the anti-graft agency.
Former President Obasanjo had accused Agunloye of mismanaging a power project during his tenure, specifically citing a failure to brief him on the project’s status. The EFCC’s announcement, signed by spokesperson Dele Oyewale, saw Agunloye allegedly accused of corruption and forgery.
Before the declaration, Agunloye had run for the governor’s office in Ondo State in 2016 under the Social Democratic Party.
The EFCC has urged anyone with information about Agunloye’s whereabouts to contact the commission or report to the nearest police station or anti-graft zonal office.
