The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Ekiti Sector Command has cautioned commercial drivers against overloading their vehicles with goods and passengers in the state.
The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Elijah Olusola, in a statement by the Ag. Sector Public Education Officer, Egesie Obinna, announced the decision during an interactive section with executives of transport unions in the state.
According to Olusola, the special patrol is essential in order to curb the rising statistics of crashes traceable to overloading in the state, adding that it has commenced arrest and prosecution of motorists found guilty.
He further stated that the special patrol operations would be held across the state in conjunction with transport unions and other law enforcement agencies.
Consequently, motorists are advised to adhere strictly to laws and regulations relating to loading capacity of their vehicles to avoid prosecution.
