The Ekiti State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has congratulated the Wife of the State Governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji on her 54th birthday, describing her as a blessing to Ekiti people.

The chairman of the Council, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi, in a statement signed by the Union’s Secretary, O’Seun Ogunsakin, said the First Lady has consistently proven herself as a special gift and blessing to Ekiti people by giving hope to the hopeless through the various intervention programmes carried out by her pet project, Widows, Aged and Orphans Hope (WAOH) initiative.

Babatuyi said the First Lady’s commitment to bettering the lot of Ekiti women and girls is evident in the introduction of Adire Ekiti Hub which has provided young women with skills in tie-dye design fabrics which have in turn earned them some source of livelihood.

The NUJ chairman also hailed Dr Oyebanji for her pro bono teaching service in two tertiary institutions in the State, noting that this gesture confirms that the First Lady places premium on Ekiti future generation.

He said the successes recorded by the Governor Biodun Oyebanji-led administration have shown that Dr Oyebanji is a valuable pillar of support to her husband who is serving Ekiti people well.

“We, in the NUJ in Ekiti State, have keenly followed the activities of the Wife of the Governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji. We know she is a woman who wants the best for Ekiti people. The WAOH project and the Adire Ekiti Hub are testaments to her passion for women, the aged and orphans. This is making good  impacts among Ekiti people. As she celebrates her birthday today, we pray that the good Lord will grant her more years so that she can continue to make more positive impacts on the lives of Ekiti people. On behalf of all journalists in Ekiti State, we wish Her Excellency a happy birthday and many happy returns”, Babatuyi said.
