…says NUJ indebted to him

The leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Ekiti State Council has rejoiced with a former chairman of the union, Akogun Tai Oguntayo on the occassion of his birthday.


The union in a statement by the secretary, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi prayed God to preserve  the senior comrade and uphold him to celebrate many more years on earth in good health and abundance.


The statement describes Akogun Oguntayo as a true leader and unionist who has continued to contribute his best to the affairs and activities relating to the development of NUJ even after he left office.

It also stated that Akogun’s interest in the union is second to none, adding that he has remained consistent in his support for all his successors and ensuring the emergence of capable leaders that can sustain the legacy of the union


It reads: “Akogun is a rare leader in the history of Ekiti NUJ, he is the only leader that never abandoned the union after his tenure, there is no week that Akogun will not visit the centre to check on his people and offer advice.


“It is also on record that his tenure  witnessed great success despite the various challenges faced and build the solid foundation which successive administration consolidated on.

“We are indebted to you, NUJ is indebted to you for your meritorious services and the union will reciprocate at the appropriate time, the statement affirms.


“Once again congratulations, wishing you better years.”
