Members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Council, have elected Raphael Ogbonnaiye, as the new Chairman of the chapel.

In a statement by the Secretary of the chapel, Victor Akinkuolie, the election of the new Chairman was conducted in line with the NUJ constitution and monitored by the NUJ Chairman, Rotimi Ojomoyela.

The exercise was held during the monthly congress of the chapel held at the Old Governor’s Office, Ado-Ekiti.

NEWSTODAYNG gathered that the chairmanship position became vacant following the appointment of former Chairman, Victor Oginje, as Special Assistant on Media to the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State.

In his acceptance speech, Ogbonnaiye appreciated members of the chapel and pledged to work for the interest of the chapel.

NEWSTODAYNG recalled that Ogbonnaiye, who is the Correspondent of the Daily Trust Newspaper, was the former Vice Chairman of the chapel.

He would serve for a period of seven months to complete the tenure of the Chapel’s current present executive.
