As part of measures to have a mass gathering of Journalists across Ekiti State on yearly basis, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Council has selected some notable individuals across the Country for awards during its 2022 Press Week.

In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Press Week Committee, Alhaji Yaquob Popoola and Kelechi David, outstanding Nigerians like the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, PDP House of Representatives Candidate, Ekiti South Constituency Two, Mr Henrich Akomolafe, General Manager, BSES, Ado Ekiti, Mr Olu Popoola, Chairman Veteran Journalists in Ekiti State, Mr Kayode Oni would be presented award.

In the Press week starting from Tuesday, 6th December, 2022 to Sunday, 11th December, 2022, Journalists would also have free Medical Checkup for the sustainability of their health and wellness.

The statement reads, “This year’s Press Week of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ekiti State Council will commence on Tuesday 6th with a roundtable discussion at NUJ Centre, Oke Bareke Ado Ekiti by ten in the morning.

“In a statement, the Chairman of the Press Week Committee, Alhaji Yaquob Popoola and the Secretary, Kelechi David said that there would be Medical Checkup for all Journalists in Ekiti State at same venue on Wednesday by nine in the morning.

“On Thursday, the 8th, the Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, Dr Dayo Oladebeye would deliver a Lecture on the theme 2023: Beyond Religion and Ethnicity; the Place of the Media by eleven in the morning at Sanni Abacha Hall, Old Governor’s Office, Ado Ekiti while some outstanding Nigerians including the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, PDP House of Representatives Candidate, Ekiti South Constituency Two, Mr Henrich Akomolafe, General Manager, BSES, Ado Ekiti, Mr Olu Popoola, Chairman Veteran Journalists in Ekiti State, Mr Kayode Oni would be presented award.

“On Friday 9th, there will be jumat service at Ansar -ur-deen, Odo Otun Ado Ekiti, by one o’ clock in the afternoon.

“On Saturday, there would be Dinner and Investiture of Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji as the Grand Patron of the Union.

“The Chairman, Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers and Onisan of Isan-Ekiti, Oba Ayodele Adejuwon would be the Royal Father of the day while the Governor’s wife, Dr Yemi Biodun-Oyebanji would be the Mother of the Day.

“Finally on Sunday, there would be Thanksgiving Service at House of Faith Church, Ado Ekiti by ten in the morning.

“The Committee enjoined all members and Invited Guests to attend the programmes promptly.”
