The Ekiti State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has unveiled an annual professional awards for best journalists of the year in different categories.
This was disclosed in a statement co-signed by the State’s Chairmen of NUJ and Award Committee, Kayode Babatuyi and Tope Babalola, respectively.
The statement reads, “All professional journalists working in the Print, Electronic and New Media to submit entries for the 2024 professional awards.
“The ceremony will hold on the 12th of October, 2024 as part of the activities to mark this year’s Press Week.
“The categories include; Akogun Tai Oguntayo Political Reporter of the Year Print/ Online; Chief Taiwo Olatubosun Political Reporter of the Year ( Broadcast); Hon. Yinka Oyebode Investigative Reporter of the Year (Print); Olu Popoola Investigative Reporter of the Year ( Broadcast).
“Others are; Marcus Ogundola Crime Reporter of the year (Print/); CP Adeniran Akinwale Crime Reporter of the Year (Broadcast); Olalekan Ijidale Yoruba Broadcaster of the Year (Male); Isreal Adesokan Jaruu Yoruba broadcaster of the year (Female); Mary Oso Omotosho News Caster of the Year (Female); Jide Ogunluyi News Caster of the year (Male); Mrs. Margaret Agbeyo Women and Children Reporter of the Year (Female only) and Information Officer of the Year ( Information Officers Only).
“Applicants for this award MUST be a registered member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Ekiti State Council. He/She MUST have paid the 2024 Practicing fee as required by the NUJ constitution.
“Applicant MUST have attended 50% of the congresses (4-5) between January and September 2024.
“Applicant MUST be working and practicing in Ekiti State. Applicants in the print categories are to submit photocopies of two published works or links to the stories while broadcast Journalists are to submit two copies of materials in a flash.
“Applicant MUST indicate categories which the work submitted are meant for. No work is allowed to be submitted for more than one entry.
“Applicant is eligible to apply for as many categories as possible. All work submitted must have been published or broadcast between January 2024 and August 2024.
“Audios and Visuals MUST be submitted in an empty flash which must be enveloped and well tagged.
“Deadline for entry is Friday the 27th of September 2024. All Materials are to be well tagged and submitted to the NUJ Secretariat, Old Governor’s Office, Ado Ekiti”.
