The Coordinator of National Youth Service Corps(NYSC) in Ekiti State, Mary Nenna Chikezie has called on the 2022 Batch C Stream II Prospective Corps Members deployed to the State to embrace the Skills Acquisition & Entrepreneurship Department, SAED hands-on skill training to gain valuable skills which will empower them to challenge unemployment, socio-economic downturn attain financial independence.



The Coordinator,
representing the Director of SAED Department, NYSC Headquarters today, noted that SAED is a golden opportunity that each corps member should leverage to attain self-reliance, economic security and possibly become an employer of labour as white-collar jobs are scarcely available.

She equally enjoined the Corps members to be committed to a skill and engage in other ventures that would positively impact their lives.

Enumerating the agenda of SAED, she highlighted the following: to assist corps members to cultivate the culture of entrepreneurship and income, build capacity to see opportunities to create wealth from situations around, gather information on funding opportunities and gain technical assistance in job search and find opportunities to be economically active.

In addition, she outlined the available SAED training skills, namely agro allied, food processing and preservation, culture and tourism, cosmetology, beautification, power and energy and a host of many others.

On her part, the Head of SAED in camp, Funmilayo Grace enjoined the PCMs to get a skill which would be of great value to them in the future, considering the rapid increase in the rate of unemployment amongst graduates in the country.
