The Ekiti State Police Command has apprehended eight suspects suspected to be involved in the killings of two monarchs and abduction of school children in the state.
This was contained in a statement signed by the PRO of the command, DSP Sunday Abutu.
According to the statement, the operation, in collaboration with the military personnel, Amotekun Corps, Vigilantes, Local Hunters, Members of Agbekoya Group including Policemen and Amotekun Corps from Ondo State, was carried out in Emure-Ekiti Forest, Ise/Ogbese Forest to Emure-Ile Forest in Ondo.
The suspects, who were apprehended during the bush combing operation are currently undergoing investigation and are giving credible information that could lead to the arrest of other fleeing suspects.
They include: Aya Sumaila, Idrisu Abubakar, Hassan Abudullahi, Abudullahi Abudullahi, Haruna Abubakar, Usman Abudullahi, Haruna Sule, and Babusa Alhaji Lede.
Exhibits recovered are: one life Cow, three cutlasses, one axe, one dagger, including food items.
While urging the residents of the state to remain and avail them useful information, the command pledged its unwavering commitment towards apprehending other perpetrators who orchestrated the heinous acts.
The statement reads, “Following the recent kidnapping of some school children in Emure-Ekiti and the killing of two traditional rulers in Ikole-Ekiti, the Command, in order to ensure the rescue of the victims and the apprehension of the culprits, deployed the Rapid Response Squad for a bush combing operation in collaboration with the military personnel, Amotekun Corps, Vigilantes, Local Hunters, Members of Agbekoya Group including Policemen and Amotekun Corps from Ondo State.
“The suspects are currently undergoing investigation and are giving credible information that could lead to the arrest of other fleeing suspects that perpetrated the dastard acts.
“Exhibits recovered from the suspects are: one life Cow, three cutlasses, one axe, one dagger including food items.
“While the Command will not rest until the fleeing hoodlums are made to face the full wrath of the law, members of the public are hereby implored to be calm and support the Police with credible and timely information that could lead to the arrest of those behind these heinous acts and other criminal elements in the State.”
