The Ekiti State Police Command has recovered stolen Toyota Corolla and Toyota Yaris Cars from one Sulaimon Habeeb after he was traced to Yamoye in Kogi State.
In a statement signed by Spokesperson of the Command, DSP Abutu Sunday, the recovery and arrest were made following a distress call received on Sunday that a Toyota Corolla car was stolen by unknown thief at Government Reserved Area, Ado-Ekiti.
The Anti Vehicle Theft Section (AVTS) then swung into action, which led to the suspect’s arrest.
Sulaimon confessed to committing the crime, adding that he has been operating in Ekiti, Kogi and Kano since 2021 with buyers in Abuja, Kaduna and Kano.
Other things recovered from him are three master keys for Toyota, Hyundai, Honda cars and two samsung phones respectively.
He will be arraigned accordingly once the investigation is concluded.
The statement reads, “On the 18th of December 2022 at about 0800hrs, the Command a received a distress call that a Toyota Corolla car was stolen by unknown thief at GRA, Ado-Ekiti
“Upon the receipt of the report, the Anti Vehicle Theft Section (AVTS) of the State CID, Ekiti State Police Command swung into action and traced the vehicle to Yamoye in Kogi state where the suspect, One Sulaimon Habeeb, was arrested with the stolen vehicle.
“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the crime and revealed that he has been into Car theft operation since 2021. He further revealed that he operates majorly in Ekiti, Kogi and Kano while his major buyers are from Abuja, Kaduna and Kano.
“Exhibits recovered are one stolen Toyota Corolla, one stolen Toyota Yaris, Three master keys for Toyota, Hyundai and Honda cars respectively and Two samsung phones.
“The arrested suspect will be arraigned as soon as investigation is concluded.”
