as Officials Declares More Support For Gov. Oyebanji

 

The Executive Chairman of Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Prof. Femi Akinwumi has announced the establishment of four new public primary schools in Ikere Ekiti.

Prof. Akinwumi who made the pronouncement in Ikere Ekiti at a meeting with Head Teachers of Public Primary Schools said the aim was to improve access to basic education among children of school and also meet the demands and yearnings of various communities in the town for qualitative basic education.

The newly approved schools are: Community N/P School, Surulere, Eruobodo Community N/P School, Irepodun N/P School and Ifelodun N/P School all in Ikere Ekiti which according to the Chairman met all requirements for their approval.

He said the present administration led by Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji is passionately committed to the development of basic education across all towns and villages in the state and Will continue to do everything to encourage more pupils’ enrolment in public primary schools.

The SUBEB boss said among the strategies for enrollment drive and reduction in Out of School Children is the establishment of more schools, especially in new neighbourhoods where there were no school before, adding that the approval for the establishment of those schools would add to government’s presence in the areas

Prof. Akinwumi while reiterating the huge financial investment of government in the public primary schools across the state and Governor Oyebanji s commitment to teacher’s welfare, solicited more support for his administration, stressing the need for greater loyalty and dedication to duty by the teachers.

He urged the Head Teachers to work in collaboration with the management of Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) to achieve more development as there could not be any meaningful progress in an atmosphere devoid of peaceful coexistence, urging both parties to have the spirit of tolerance and forgiveness.

He also advised the officials to invest in themselves by adding more values to their academic qualifications noting that the higher their qualifications, the more opportunities they will have in their career progression.

“Before now, NCE was the highest qualification for appointment as Head Teacher, but today if you don’t have a degree, you will remain as class teacher. Therefore you must continue to develop yourselves.”

Prof. Akinwumi charged the beneficiaries of the School in Agriculture among the Head Teachers to avail their pupils of the opportunity and engage them actively in the program to develop in them entrepreneurship and agricultural skills for a better and secured future.

Earlier, the SUBEB Commissioner for Human Resources Management, Dr. (Mrs) Olufunke Fajobi appreciated Governor Oyebanji and the SUBEB Executive Chairman for their interest in development of basic education in the community, adding that Ikere Ekiti people would continue to support BAO and his government.

Dr. Fajobi who could not hide her feelings for speedy approval of more public primary schools in the town assured of more loyalty and support of the populace for Governor Oyebanji for continuity of his administration beyond 2026.

She urged the Head Teachers to shun prejudice and discrimination among themselves but rather promote love and unity in order to achieve their desirable goals, adding that they must obey the organogram structures of the public service to earn respects for themselves.

Present at the meeting were, SUBEB officials, Education Secretary of Ikere Local Government, Mr. Buraimoh Gbenro, the State Headmaster General , Mrs. Olawumi Omonijo among others.
