The Ekiti State Government has collaborated with the World Bank to reduce unemployment in the State.

This was disclosed by the Executive Secretary Bureau of Employment, Labour and Productivity, Olubukola Faluyi in Ilawe Ekiti during the second batch orientation and validation exercise on Labour intensive public work for beneficiaries across the 16 Local Government Areas in Ekiti State.

Faluyi commended the World Bank for partnering Ekiti State in a
bid to reduce the rate of unemployment through a federal program Nigeria Covid-19 Economic Stimulus by giving monthly stipend to the beneficiaries of the program.

The beneficiaries were mined from the unemployed state single
register, through the community-based targeting system exercise across the state, within the age bracket of 18-50 years with a minimum of secondary school leaving certificate.

She stressed the details and nature of the labour intensive work which
included sweeping of market areas, cleaning of health care centers,
evacuation of drainages as well as maintenance of the palaces.

The Executive Secretary charged the beneficiaries to be diligent and
avail themselves at their duty post as and when due.
