The Ekiti State Government, through the Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, has announced the restructuring of the Ekiti Ring Road Phase I to prevent the demolition of houses in communities such as Iworoko, Are, and Afao Ekiti, which lie along the proposed construction route.

Rt. Hon. Olatunbosun provided assurance to the residents in Ado Ekiti, emphasizing the commitment of the Biodun Oyebanji administration to the overall well-being of the people.

He assured that the government would not undertake any action that could jeopardize the local economy, peace, and tranquility.

While underscoring the government’s adherence to international best practices, Olatunbosun explained that a ring road typically serves to reduce traffic congestion in urban centers by providing an alternative route around the city. He highlighted the government’s focus on state development and improvement while using efficient methods to ensure environmental safety.

The Commissioner for Works, Sola Adebayo, echoed Olatunbosun’s submissions, assuring residents that the restructuring is in their best interest and will not diminish the value of their communities. He also emphasized the positive impact of the road on socio-economic activities, foreseeing increased development in the affected communities.

Acknowledging the importance of stakeholder support, Adebayo solicited cooperation for the successful completion of the Ring Road project. He stressed the significance of the public’s continuous support in achieving the State’s developmental objectives, emphasizing a collective responsibility to protect community interests.
