Nigerian businessman and industrialist, Aliko Dangote has confirmed that there is no country without in the world without corruption.
The business mogul who stated this during an interview said that Africa only has very weak institutions in dealing with corrupt practices in Nigeria.
In his words, ” There is no country without corruption. Our own in Africa is well pronounced because we have very weak institutions. You know, what we need are very big institutions so that when you cross the line, there is somebody that will deal with you squarely.
“In America, Europe or anywhere, there is corruption, but not at the same level with what we have in Africa.
Commenting on how he has been able to survive in business with Nigeria being ranked 144 out of 177 international list of corrupt countries, Dangote stated he has never paid any kickback to keep his business afloat.
“I have never paid any kickback. A lot of people are busy fighting the corruption while some are expanding it. I think the government is also trying quite a lot to stop it, but that truth is, it is an issue be that has been on for a very long time. But like I mentioned, we need very strong institutions which will help Africa out”, he added.
