Former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan has called for unity and progress in Nigeria following the Supreme Court’s validation of President Bola Tinubu’s electoral victory.

Speaking with newsmen at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa after a meeting with President Tinubu, Jonathan stressed the importance of moving the nation forward.

“Elections are over, we must move forward,” Jonathan said, underscoring the need to end tension and work together as Africa’s most populous nation.

Jonathan called on all political leaders, including former presidents, to set aside bitterness and collaborate for the overall well-being of the country.

He also mentioned that his visit aimed to inform Tinubu about his recent foreign engagements and discuss various issues affecting Nigeria.

The former president highlighted the traditions of former presidents, which are informing the current president when they travel abroad for continental, regional, or international matters, emphasizing the importance of working together to advance Nigeria, ECOWAS, and the African continent.
