The bereaved family of a 65-year-old woman, Tunmise Oluyemi, resident in Ilesa, Osun State, who was killed on her farm by suspected ritualists has denied the proposed autopsy by the Osun State Police Command.
The complainant, Dare Oluyemi, and other children of the deceased refused to release the corpse to the police and insisted to bury her.
The spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, in a statement on Tuesday, stated that policemen had visited the scene, stressing that the complainant, and other children of the deceased refused to release the corpse to the police and insisted to bury her.
“They refused to allow the police take the corpse to a mortuary. They threatened violence and insisted they wanted to bury her,” she added.
She said Tunmise, went missing on Saturday, 30th July, 2022 and was later found dead on her farm in the Fadahunsi area of Ilesa on Monday, adding that the assailants also removed one of the eyes of the deceased.
According to her, “It was reported around 1pm on Monday to the police that one Tunmise Oluyemi, aged 65, who went missing last Saturday, was found dead on her farm at the Fadahunsi area of Ilesa around 11.30am.
“One of the eyes of the deceased was plucked out by the yet-to-be-identified assailants.”
