The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, SAN, has commissioned 850m inner road of Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The Minister who was duly represented by the Federal Roads Controller in the State, Forosola Oloyede, said the government was doing everything possible to fix all federal roads in Ogun State in order to reduce the plight of residents and other road users.
According to Fashola, the intervention was part of the initiative of the Federal Government to repair, rehabilitate and reconnect roads within tertiary institutions and FMCs across the six geopolitical zones in the country.
On the FMC 850 inner road, he urged the health facility to make use of it and also maintain it.
He cited Lagos-Abeokuta expressway, Sagamu -Ogijo road and Sango Ota- Idiroko road as three of the federal roads receiving attention in the state, saying that the contractor(Julius Berger) handling Lagos-Abeokuta road would soon return to site, adding that the Sagamu- Ogijo road had been done to 23km of the 30.04km road and would be completed before the end of the year.
FMC Medical Director Prof. Adewale Olomu hailed the minister and Federal Government, noting that they had done more road repair, rehabilitation and reconstruction across the country amid paucity of funds than predecessors.
