…as 511 students bag distinction

The Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti is set to convoke 13,667 full-time and part-time students who have completed their course of study in the various disciplines during the 2018/2019, 2019/2020, and 2020/2021 Academic sessions at the 18th combined convocation ceremony.


The Rector, Dr. Dayo Hephzibah Oladebeye, made this known on Monday in a press conference, in Ado-Ekiti where he revealed that this is the second convocation he will be presiding over since taking over the mantle of leadership as the 6th Substantive Rector on February 23rd, 2018.

He also revealed that five eminent Nigerians have been nominated and accepted to be decorated with the Fellowship Award of the Polytechnic.

The dignitaries are; a former Lagos State Governor and Minister of Works, Babatunde Raji Fashola, and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi are to be garlanded with the Fellowship Awards of the institution during the ceremonies.

Also, Mrs. Modupe Babalola, the wife of a Legal Icon and university founder, Chief Afe Babalola(SAN), an alumnus of the institution, Surv S.A. Fakologbon, and Dr. Rotimi Ibidapo, who also graduated from the Polytechnic.

The recognitions according to him, will serve as a source of encouragement to the graduates and students, “for them to know that they too can aspire to whatever height they aim at”.

Outlining some of the achievements of his administration in the school which include the infrastructural achievements, staff training, retraining and development, and Academic Development, Dr. Dayo expressed his happiness in the approval for commencement of additional programs for the polytechnic in the last 56 months by The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), stating that this will strengthen the institution’s ranking nationally and globally.

In his words: “The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) had approved the commencement of additional/new Programmes for the Polytechnic in the last 56 months having undergone the required accreditation/resource inspection visitation of the NBTE to our institution for the Programmes.

“We have facilitated the take-off of proposed Ado-poly Microfinance Bank, establishment of Ado-poly FM and the Rector was awarded the Best Rector of the year and the Polytechnic as the Best Polytechnic in the South-West by the South-West Educational award.”

He also revealed that his administration has executed over 20 landmark projects to shore up the polytechnic’s physical infrastructures, besides ensuring regular training, retraining, and development of staff and timely payment of some of their emoluments.

The Rector, however beckoned on potential benefactors and well-meaning Nigerians to help the institution scale through some of it’s challenges which included funding, so that “the mission and the vision, for which the institution was founded, can be fully achieved.”
