The Federal Government of Nigeria has acquired 12 MD 530 F Cayuse attack helicopters for the Nigerian Army to alleviate security challenges in the country.

This was revealed by the Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, during the maiden seminar on Aviation Security Awareness at the Army Headquarters Command in Abuja.

In his remarks at the seminar themed, “Enhancing the Capacity of the Nigerian Army Aviation towards Achieving Constitutional Responsibilities in a Joint Environment,” the COAS expressed gratitude to the government of President Bola Tinubu for buying into the aspiration of the Nigerian Army Aviation and committing itself to making history.

He noted that the seminar would serve as a platform to deliberate issues and share insights regarding the NA aviation future, adding that the acquisition of the new attack helicopters shows the capability of the government in increasing the operation of Army Aviation to effectively respond to insecurity raging in the country.

He further emphasized the critical role of NA aviation, saying that the outfit was set up to improve the agility, responsiveness, and efficacy of the ground troops while contributing to the overall success of the force.
