The Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC) Ekiti Sector Command, has held a Town Hall Meeting to prevent road crashes during the ‘Ember Months’ in the state.

Speaking with journalists at the 2024 3rd Quarterly Town Hall Meeting in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti Sector Commander, Elijah Joseph said the town hall meeting was in collaboration with critical stakeholders aimed at ensuring the safety of road users.

His words, “We will intensify on our public enlightenment. It will be a different thing from what we have been doing in the past. We have been able to identify virtually everything we see in road crashes and we will tell them that accidents don’t just happens but they are caused.

“We believe that we will synergise to ensure there is safety of lives and property on the road. It is a quarterly meeting where they tell us their problems and look for possible solutions.”

The Special Guest of Honour and Ekiti State Commissioner for Transportation, Kehinde Ajobiewe reaffirmed the commitment of the State government in reducing road accidents through collaboration with critical stakeholders in the sector.

Ajobiewe, represented by the SSA on Transportation to the Governor, Olaoluwa Arolasuyi, solicited the cooperation of Stakeholders in the Transportation Sector and people of the State in ensuring the success of measures being put in place by the State Government to reduce road crashes within the sector.

Also, the Federal Controller of Works in the State, Engr. Owolabi Wasiu implored road users to bear with the FG who are working assiduously to get the roads fixed while decrying that some drivers will be driving recklessly.

The representative of the Olukere of Ikere-Ekiti, Olusola Osundare, tasked government across all levels to ameliorate the impacts of economic hardship which he described as one of the major factors affecting the transportation sector.

He charged the stakeholders against terrorizing commuters and reduce the intake of drugs to mitigate the number of road crashes.
