Unknown gun men have set fire on the residence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Assembly candidate for Ikwerre-Emuoha Federal Constituency, Ezemonye Ezekiel-Amadi in Rivers State.

NEWSTODAYNG gathered that the unknown gun men who were suspected to be political thugs invaded the house of the candidate at Omerelu, his country home in the Ikwerre local government area of the state at the weekend.

It was gathered that some of the Arsonists, who first broke into the residence, were intercepted and arrested by some community youths before the house was eventually set on fire.

Ezekiel- Amadi, who confirmed the incident, emphatically stated that most of the rooms were burnt. He said the assailants broke the glass windows and set fire to the curtains. He noted that all the windows in the apartment chairs, tables, ceiling and electronic devices were destroyed.

He added that the youths in the community raced into his house and tried to stop the fire from spreading.

In his words: “They raced into my place so that they could put out the fire. Most of the places close to the window were burnt. What the boy who was apprehended did was he would break the glass and then light the curtains”

On his part, the party spokesperson, Darlington Nwauju stated that the incident was masterminded by a suspected PDP arsonist, noting that the incident justified the party’s call for the police to increase surveillance on APC leaders and candidates in the state, describing the attack as one too many.
