Corps members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, and a commuter have expressed divergent views on the hospitality they received from indigenes of Ekiti State.

Speaking with NEWSTODAYNG, a corps member, Asiribo Peace, recounted his experiences since he was deployed to the state, stressing on the significance of their accommodating strides.

In his words, “We don’t meet people like this every day. I have good things to say and I have met hospitable people, people who ask about my wellbeing and want to help me, even as I don’t know them.”

Another corps member, Maurice Okorie gave a contrary response, saying he was severally cheated by Okada Riders because he didn’t know the prices to various destinations while he paid more to locations that were not even far.

However, he noted that another Okada Rider changed his mindset afterwards, by taking his time to explain the prices of things and respective places in the state.

According to Okorie; “He took his time to explain the prices of things and places so I could know.

“Camp in Ekiti State was a wonderful experience, Ekiti people are united, irrespective of tribe, although I had issues initially with okada riders trying to cheat me because I was new here, then I met a really nice okada man who took out time to explain the prices of things and places so I could know.” He added.

NEWSTODAYNG also gathered from a commuter and a business woman, who said that the cost of transportation is affordable in Ekiti State as opposed to her state of origin.

She disclosed that she has been on the receiving end of Ekiti Indigenes’ kindness, as she was once stranded with no where to withdraw money, but was rescued by one of the indigenes.

Her words: “The woman was really nice, She gave me cash when I was looking for money to travel home without collecting charges.”
