A former lawmaker representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District, Babafemi Ojudu has dropped a bombshell, saying he funded the impeachment of former governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose.
Ojudu disclosed this while speaking on a podcast tagged ‘State Affairs’ with Edmund Obilo.
The renowned journalist said he capitalised on his loophole by using state legislators within his party (PDP), who were agitated with his style of governance.
His words, “I have removed a governor in Ekiti, I plotted and scripted the impeachment of Fayose.
“I used Obasanjo for the impeachment of Fayose and when Obasanjo realized, he fought against me. Obasanjo said I had a agreement that if Fayose is doing this and that and I want to impeach him, I should make sure I don’t impeach the deputy; I agreed and I signed.
“I took all the lawmakers to Lagos, kept them in an hotel, I was feeding them, taking them around and I was not a senator that time, I was a journalist.
“I had money and I funded the impeachment, and my friends too gave me money. I took the lawmakers and paid them money to follow me, they were members of PDP and they were not happy with him, I saw the weak link and I exploited it”.
NEWSTODAYNG recalled that Fayose became the governor of Ekiti on May 29, 2003 and was impeached on 16th October, 2006.
