The Governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello has banned  the use of face masks in the state for identification purposes. The governor has also ordered closure of all brothels in the state harboring prostitutes.

According to Bello, the order is due to the insecurity bedevilling the state in recent times.

The governor gave this order on Tuesday in Lokoja during a meeting with first and second-class traditional rulers, as well as local government council chairmen of the state.

He also ordered the demolition of all shanties in Lokoja, Osara, Zango, Itobe, Obajana, and all other areas of the state, while also urging the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Local Government Chairmen, union leaders, and security agencies to meet with tricycle and motorcycle riders for documentation.

Governor Bello also urged all traditional rulers to safeguard their community and ensure their vicinity is cleared of all suspicious persons

He said: “Ensuring peaceful coexistence in your domain is your exclusive responsibility. You have the exclusive responsibility to ensure that all nooks and crannies of your areas are free from criminality of all sorts.”

The governor also sympathized with the families of the killed security agents in Ajaojuta Local Government Area last Saturday, whilst also notifying security agents and local government chairmen to never relent from carrying out their duties.
